The brief.
Konstruct was engaged by the body corporate of a residential tower in Brisbane that had experienced water leaks since its construction more than twenty years earlier. Konstruct was recommended for the work by the facade engineer appointed to resolve the issue, and was engaged to carry out the remedial works to the engineer's specification.
The challenge.
The tower had leaked for over two decades, and a conventional approach would have meant removing windows and rebuilding the waterproofing from scratch, an expensive and highly disruptive undertaking for the owners. The facade engineer specified a more targeted solution: injecting concrete cracks and carrying out focused repairs to the windows, addressing the sources of the ingress without a full strip-out. Executing that plan precisely, and confirming it had genuinely resolved a long-standing leak, was the core of the challenge.
How we delivered.
Konstruct carried out the engineer's specification to the letter, injecting the concrete cracks and completing the targeted window repairs as designed. This approach removed the need to remove and reinstall windows, saving the client tens of thousands of dollars against a full waterproofing rebuild. Initial testing showed the repair had resolved the great majority of the ingress, and Konstruct then worked alongside the engineer to refine several minor details of the repair, closing out the remaining points until the leak was fully resolved. With the building made watertight, the internal finishes were repaired to complete the works.
The outcome.
A water leak that had persisted since the tower was built more than twenty years earlier was fully resolved, at a fraction of the cost and disruption of a conventional rebuild. The owners have the certainty that the long-standing ingress has been dealt with, and the works are now serving as the template for remediating the wider tower. The job reflects Konstruct's strength in water leak detection and targeted facade repair, working closely with engineers to deliver a durable, cost-effective result.
